Our Parish Council, also known as a Parish Pastoral Council, is composed of a group of parishioners, appointed by the pastor, who advises the pastor. The council's purpose is to help the parish live out its mission and to encourage the whole parish community to participate. 
 
What does a parish council do? 
  • Advise the pastor: The council advises the pastor on pastoral matters, including the parish's needs, concerns, gifts, and resources.
  • Develop a mission statement: The council develops and reviews the parish's mission statement.
  • Create a pastoral plan: The council develops and reviews a pastoral plan for the parish.
  • Recommend policies and programs: The council recommends policies, procedures, and programs to help the parish implement its mission and pastoral plan.
  • Evaluate programs: The council evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs.

Hi, I'm Jimmy Piper*, a 25+ year parishioner of St. Andrew with my wife Claudette. I usually attend the 10 AM Sunday Mass where I am active in the liturgy as a lector and an usher. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a past pastoral council member.

Hi, I'm Diane Wegener, a 32+ year parishioner of St. Andrew. I've served as an usher, EOM, Women's Guild board, Faith Formation Teacher, and Life Teen Team member. I have two grandsons and enjoy pickleball, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.

Hi, I'm Damien Esprit, born and raised is South Louisiana, & one of five kids with a twin brother. A Roswell resident for the past 5 yrs and a parishioner of St. Andrew for 3+ yrs. I serve our parish as a Knight of Columbus and as an MC. Married to my wife Michelle for 18 yrs, the greatest joy in my life.

Hi, I'm Elizabeth Van Varick, a 2+ year parishioner of St. Andrew, and founder of United Families Ministry. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, and presently work in pediatrics. I enjoy crafting and baking, and currently live in Roswell with my husband, Matt and daughter, Elle.

Hi, I'm Cece Sharp, member of St. Andrew since 2021. My family and I moved to St. Andrew after observing the wonderful and inclusive parish life that abounds here. I’ve been married to my husband, Matt, for 20 years and have three teenage daughters.

Hi, I'm Luis Garcia, a 15+ year parishioner of St. Andrew with my wife Maria del Pilar and our kids Isabella and Daniel, all actively involved in our parish. I serve in the Spanish-speaking Lectors Ministry and Nocturnal Eucharistic Adoration, and now I have the honor to serve one more time in the Parish Council. I work as a Technical Trainer for Zuora.

Hi, I'm Dr. Chinwe Bibi Nwabude, a 28+ year parishioner of St. Andrew with my wonderful husband Oliver, who serves as an usher, and our four sons. I have served in the parish in several capacities such as Sacristan, Liturgical Environments Ministry, etc. I have also served in various leadership roles outside the parish I'm a practicing pharmacist and VP of Trans Alliance Med and Drugs.

Pastoral Council (known sometimes as Parish Council) according to the Canon Law:

Can. 536 §1. If the diocesan bishop judges it opportune after he has heard the presbyteral council, a pastoral council is to be established in each parish, over which the pastor presides and in which the Christian faithful, together with those who share in pastoral care by virtue of their office in the parish, assist in fostering pastoral activity. §2. A pastoral council possesses a consultative vote only and is governed by the norms established by the diocesan bishop.
